Job Description

Remote is seeking a Senior Requirements Engineer to join the team in the Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation (AGO). The Senior Requirements Engineer will be responsible for documenting, analysing, validating and managing both business and system requirements throughout the project lifecycle. The role will act as a critical bridge between stakeholders (business users, customers and management) as well as technical teams (architects, engineers, developers and testers). To ensure that solutions are aligned with business needs and are clearly defined, feasible and testable. The role will ensure that requirements are complete, traceable and appropriately prioritised to enable efficient solution design, development and delivery. The program of work has multiple projects, which range in size. The successful candidate will be required to work across all of these projects. (RFx29716)

Role Description

Major requirements/responsibilities for the role include:

  • Plan and drive end-to-end requirements activities for large and complex capabilities.

  • Define scope, boundaries and objectives in alignment with overall AGO and Defence strategic outcomes.

  • Facilitate prioritisation of requirements based on business value, risk and dependencies.

  • Select and apply appropriate requirements engineering methods, tools and techniques.

  • Elicit input from a diverse range of stakeholders across business and technical groups, including facilitating consensus and decision-making across stakeholder groups.

  • Secure formal agreement and sign-off on requirements.

  • Negotiate competing priorities, trade-offs and conflicting requirements.

  • Establish and maintain requirements baselines to support controlled delivery.

  • Ensure requirements are clearly defined, approved and version-controlled.

  • Govern changes to requirements through structured change management processes.

  • Perform impact assessments on scope, cost, schedule and solution design.

  • Contribute to the development and improvement of organisational requirements practices, frameworks and standards as well as reusable templates and continuous improvement initiatives.
