Job Description

Remote is seeking an experienced Senior Cyber Security Governance Analyst to support the Australian Electoral Commision to deliver critical national services. This role will contribute to a significant cyber security resilience uplift program, providing governance, risk and compliance (GRC) expertise across security assurance, documentation, stakeholder engagement and executive reporting activities.

This is an onsite Canberra-based opportunity supporting a dynamic environment where cyber security outcomes are directly linked to the continuity and integrity of nationally significant operations. The successful candidate will work closely with cyber security teams, business stakeholders and senior executives to strengthen security governance and assurance practices. (LH-07441)

Role Description

Reporting into the Cyber Security function, the Senior Cyber Security Governance Analyst will play a key role in delivering cyber governance and assurance activities across a large-scale resilience program. They will contribute to solution design, security assessments, assurance processes and executive decision-making support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing cyber security governance, risk and compliance (GRC) expertise across projects and operational initiatives.

  • Reviewing solution designs and providing security recommendations.

  • Developing and refining security requirements.

  • Preparing executive-level communications, reports and briefing materials.

  • Coordinating security assurance activities, including IRAP assessments and penetration testing engagements.

  • Leading the development and maintenance of formal cyber security documentation.

  • Engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.

  • Supporting cyber security activities associated with major operational and event-driven periods.

The successful candidate will require strong governance and compliance expertise with the ability to influence stakeholders and communicate complex concepts effectively. They will understands how to navigate the gap between technical security requirements and business outcomes. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable discussing Essential Eight maturity with a technical team, coordinating assurance activities with assessors, and briefing executives on risk, compliance and security decisions.

Essential Criteria

  • Strong knowledge of the Information Security Manual (ISM), Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and Essential Eight.

  • Proven experience performing cyber security GRC functions within government or complex enterprise environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage and manage stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

  • Experience developing high-quality governance, risk, compliance and security assurance documentation.

Desirable Criteria

  • Five or more years of experience in cyber security, governance, risk and compliance, or related disciplines.

  • Experience supporting security accreditation, assurance or resilience uplift programs.

  • Experience within Federal Government environments.

Working Arrangements

  • Temporary work from home arrangements will be considered on a case-by-case basis. This is a surge role tied to the delivery of electoral events. Extended hours and weekend work are required during key event periods.
