Job Description
Remote is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the team at the Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation (AGO). The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing software solutions that meet business and user requirements to support the GEOINT mission system. This role will be required to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, secure and integrated applications whilst remaining compliant with Defence Security frameworks and best practices in software engineering and system design. The program of work has multiple projects, which range in size. The successful candidate will be required to work across all of these projects. (RFx29718)
Role Description
Major requirements/responsibilities for the role include:

Design, develop, and maintain software applications, systems and components using approved programming languages, frameworks, and tools.

Analyse business and technical requirements to develop effective, efficient software solutions.

Participate in code reviews to improve code quality and share knowledge with team members.

Work with project managers, product owners, business analysts, senior customers and other engineers on the design and to plan, estimate and deliver software solutions.

Maintain and enhance existing software by identifying areas for improvement, refactoring code, and resolving defects.

Ensure applications meet security, performance, and scalability requirements.

Contribute to system architecture and technical design discussions as required.

Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, providing timely fixes and root‑cause analysis.

Ensure solutions developed are in line with project architecture guidance, Defence policy and the Information Security Manual (ISM) guidance.

Prepare and maintain technical documentation related to systems, code, and development processes
