Job Description

Remote is looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Network Lead) to work closely with stakeholders across ASD, other NIC agencies, commercial cloud providers and other commercial product and services vendors. The role requires the ability to contribute to building and uplifting ASD systems and support organisation elements for the introduction of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, communities and tactical users into the information environment. Project activities include expanding the existing network, computing systems, complex gateway services, cloud services, mission services, data management services, and deployable systems.

Role Description

Key elements of the role are to:

  • provide leadership and execution of the Platform Network sub-stream;
  • coordinate requirements gathering and evaluations of proposed solutions, and
  • provide progress updates to project managers on requirements baselines, design, build, configuration, test and operations.

The role will be responsible for network deliverables, assisting with the development of work plans, schedules, drafting network centric briefs and for staying current on rapidly changing technologies.

Key duties and responsibilities

The Network Lead will perform the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Coordinate requirement gathering and validation, network design, implementation and support the establishment and continued operation of TS Cloud with NIC agency establishments.
  • Develop shared responsibility operational model and change management process between the Commonwealth and vendor.
  • Participate in managing all network activities. Coordinate activities to undertake detailed designs, network installations and acceptance testing in accordance with documented standards and policy.
  • Collaborate with NIC agencies to support ASD to gather capacity requirements and develop network interconnectivity designs for connectivity of TS Cloud and NIC agencies.
  • Coordinate and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service plans or records. Coordinate development or changes to policies, procedures for network administration and disaster recovery.
  • Engage with ASD stakeholders to design, procure and build optical networks including multiplexer, patch panel, amplifier at nodes.
  • Work with relevant ASD stakeholders to gather Office/MMR/Cage/Rack - Space / Power / Cooling / Cabling Requirements and supply these requirements to Facility stream.
  • Ensure all work meets agreed timeframes, quality standards and quality control measures.
  • Work cohesively and flexibly with the project team, and manage the expectations of stakeholders.

Job Skills and Qualifications

Desirable:

  • Professional certification or training in Computer Science, Project Management or Security, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking preferred.
