This role is primarily focused on the auditing and quality assessment of the engineering work conducted. The successful candidate is required to have an ISO 9001 auditor certification and relevant experience in this process.
The Quality Manager/Systems Engineer role requires a comprehensive understanding of engineering disciplines and practices, serving as the technical authority to ensure compliance with regulations, legislation, and standards. The role involves leading and managing engineering projects and systems throughout the Defence materiel capability life cycle, engaging with stakeholders, and addressing engineering issues and risks. Responsibilities include compliance testing, monitoring, and reporting, as well as implementing advancements in engineering principles and processes. The role also involves quality assurance, governance, and auditing activities, ensuring that delivered materiel meets all requirements and standards while recommending and initiating improvements for quality assurance processes and business reporting functionalities.
Role Description
Experience/Skills Sought:
- Understand all required engineering disciplines and practice, provide technical authority and design acceptance, implement and ensure compliance with technical regulations, legislation, policy, procedure and practice.
- Communicate and engage with stakeholders, plan, lead, develop, integrate, manage and evaluate projects and engineering management systems to deliver the engineering aspects of the Defence materiel capability life cycle.
- Investigate and expose risk, analyse and report on engineering issues, requirements, develop and implement recommendations and advice.
- Understand regulations, licenses and standards of practice, engage with stakeholders and perform compliance testing and monitoring and business process monitoring of the adherence to regulatory, license and standard requirements.
- Recommend, communicate and provide reporting of compliance and initiate remedial actions.
- Implement relevant engineering knowledge and processes to develop advancements to established engineering principles, techniques, methods and regulations.
- Translate high level goals and outcomes, identify issues and uncertainties and incorporate these into planning, decision making, priority setting and implementation.
- Evaluate and ensure that the delivered materiel meets requirements and legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks and implement actions.
- Plan, lead and manage quality assurance, governance, auditing and corporate reporting activities and identify improvements for quality assurance processes and practices.
- Manage strategic audits and reviews of quality assurance systems in the areas of strategic and business planning, quality management, performance measurement, continuous improvement and business and corporate management.
- Implement and provide advice on efficient and effective quality assurance, governance and business reporting functionalities.
Essential requirements:
- ISO 9001 auditor certification
- Engineering Degree recognised by the Washington Award or equivalent
- 10+ years relevant engineering experience.
Highly desirable:
- Qualifications in quality management
- MBA
