Job Description

Remote is seeking a System Administrator to join the team at the Department of Defence. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of governance and policy for the ADF DFC and support the DFC System Manager and Joint Data Network Operations Officer by identifying and integrating JDN requirements into the capability generation lifecycle, ensuring future COP and mission systems provide the required capability for the timely and accurate data exchange to support the joint force.

Role Description

Statement of Duties

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot application issues on Linux and Windows systems
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot TCP/IP, UDP and VLAN issues
  • Manage JSUTS virtual infrastructure
  • Manage JSUTS active directory, users, groups, DNS, DHCP, access control and certificates
  • monitor network performance utilising network monitoring tools, troubleshoot network degradation
  • Perform system analysis and report on faults and issues
  • Perform basic scripting as required of; Bash, Ansible, Powershell, Python, Javascript
  • Provide advice regarding JSUTS automation
  • Conduct system backups and restorations as required
  • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders as required
  • Direct activities between internal and external teams to ensure business continuity and minimise JSUTS system downtime
  • Provide desk side assistance to end users to rectify technical issues
  • Proactively seek improvements in JSUTS network and provide solutions to problems such as; bottlenecks, single points of failure, and capacity as they arise

Technical skills

Essential:

  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator

Desirable:

  • Red Hat Certified Engineer
  • System administrator experience on Australian Top Secret servers
  • Familiarisation with GCCS-J, JADOCS, JTT systems
